.::Watching Turtle, or Turtle Watching Us?::.

The night after my burfday celeb, we played Taboo. It was a fun game to guess a word and the person who asked us cannot use certain words to describe the items. Say, apple. You cannot say red, round, fruit cos that was the taboo words to descibe an apple. So, Bet and Wong used their creative heads and it was so funny…

what is a logo made up of rings, circled together?
and all the fill in the
blanks by Bet….

Hahaha…I was kinda slow at this game at first due to high adrenaline rush (burfday surprises). Then Oza suggested we continue playing Taboo at the beach. We can also do turtle watching and star gazing. I was in doubt at first cos

no bonfires
no lights except from handphones and Oza’s torchlight
mentally not prepared
Eventually, I joined the majority as I was kinda chicken to stay alone at the resort. Without any insect repellent, I decided to brace the rough nature… (poyos sket ayat neh)

Once at the beach, I thought I saw a ghostly white hanging-in-the-air figure near the bushes and was so scared, I read the Qursi and tag along Zura’s hand and head down. I panicked, as there were no bonfires and any sort of lighting there. Well, as what I learnt from my camping experiences, we are only visitors *there* and lights are the “must” item when you visit these kind of places.

To make myself breathe again, as there will be no turning back to the resort, I played Taboo with the rest of Tekadtles…we chose a “survivor’s den” to sleep; me, Wong, Zura and Aizan. Half of my sleeping bag was on the sand, and another half on Wong’s mat. It was rather uncomfortable due to uneven sand. I can’t sleep a wink the whole night! I was green with envy by looking at Tekadtles who managed to sleep like babies!! Metesh was the first person to sleep…Zura and Aizan slept with their legs buried in the sand (as blankets so they claimed), Oza and Wong was already in the dream ship and the guys – due to the darkness, I guessed Farih and Bet was still wide awake – sessi luahan jiwa (as I may call it). I observed Lan had trouble in sleeping too and I prayed he won’t be sleeping at all so that I won’t be the only one gazing at the stars and listening to God-knows-what sounds. Azam woke every now and then, menyampuk the two boys. I guessed during that quality minutes, I managed to doze off. Some time that wee hours in the morning, I woke up realizing (or rather thinking) that there was a beast (wild boar, wild dog may be) slept on top of where my head was, near the bush. I heard the growling sound…I was silently praying that it doesn’t know that I was the only person conscious…it was a horrifying experience…pray tell it was only Metesh’s snore or anybody….please God!!!

I can’t really remember what time exactly that I fell asleep again, as I was in a war with mosquitoes. An army of them bit all over my body and felt how stupid of me to leave my comfortable room. I felt so insecure with the absence of any sort of lighting and insect repellent knowing very well how sensitive my skin is.

Time does crawl here…it felt like forever to see the first ray of light. Thank God, the sun rose and I witnessed one of the most beautiful morning there. I managed to capture the moment. Time froze and I was pondering about life, about me and my future…

I walked to the ocean line…and looked as far as the eyes can see… I guessed I drifted for a few minutes when someone called my name. hmm..potong betullah! I was enjoying this solitary moment when they asked me to come back to be at the resort. There, I suddenly felt so tired and my back hurt so badly.

Consequently, the turtle watching was actually for the mosquitoes to feast on my blood…and comically, the Tekadtles are the ones who acted like turtles. That Sunday morning, you can see that most of them had some kind of holes at their legs area (the sand laaa), due to the digging activities…eehhehhe…come to think of it, the experience was indeed rare and one of the memorable ones for me
