The venue located just beside the Library in Shah Alam. It was already packed as if there was a carnival when we reached there around 4 p.m. Car park was full but luckily enough my Swiffy can get his space 10 mins later. I was surprised.
"Hey! How come there's so many people here? Aren't they suppose to be working on Wednesday?"
There were school buses and tour buses, cars and bikes everywhere. People were excited, some even brought their young kids and grandparents along.
"Hmm...thanks to the mass media exposure, huh?" Complained B while lighting his ciggy.
We have to que for about 6 minutes, paid RM5 each for adult tickets and went in an enclosed entrance with a heavy black curtain. The entrance was lined up with articles that I couldn't read much due to the museum's dark and gothic ambience. Yes, people... the ambience was intended to scare the skeleton out of you.
We were greeted by a hardly lit walkway that resembled a movie titled, "Rumah Setinggan" where there was a yellow beetle parked nearby a graveyard. I peeked in and saw tombstone at the Driver's side and an unidentifiable object on its passenger's. You call this scary? Hardly. There were coffins in the air to indicate whatever the Curator's understanding (I can't figure why?). So we walked hand in hand and were put to wait long enough to squint what was in the *bush*. It was a dummy pocong. Around 15 mins with human's body odour and cramped like sardine, we got in to see (if we got lucky, the pocong will chose whom it like them to see) the *real* pocong or enwrapped ghost (see pix below) in a glass room, guarded by iron grille. In that god damn dark area, all I could see was reddish L.E.D lights to indicate the supposedly *varied* temperature.
Boe was actually looking in the room inch-by-inch and hoping he could *see* one. Stories were there to say that only *selected special* people got to see the captured ghost. There was even a woman who passed out when the ghost appeared infront of her face with that goddamn ugly face.

"Hey! come closer and look. How come you're far away?" He kept pulling my hand to see the glass room.
"Well, you go ahead there...I can see it from here..." The fact that I DO NOT wish for the pocong to choose me instead. Bah! Yeah I heard stories that there were people who passed out when the ghost chose them, they said it was damn ugly with red eyes looking at you.

This is *MERMAID*? Bah!
The other areas was just jam-packed and it made me queasy. Crowding area is a no favourite of mine. While Boe hold my hand tightly (yeah..I was still queasy), we viewed the non-informative displays of *ghosts*, genies and ghouls. We squinted to see the *genie's * details. It looked as if it was carved out of rock. It looked *fake* and we couldn't find a clue of what Jenglot is, the Nyai Blorong or the mummified *mermaid*. There were no information on why people *keep* them as pet or anything...There were no scientific evidence that those were *real*. It would be more interesting (for a nerd like moi) if there were supported by x-rays, (don't give excuses that the X-rays were taken from Indonesia as the jenglots are mostly from there, but provide updated, latest x-ray please), the carbon content bladibla, you know with interviews or excerpt from the scientist or religious people, be it Islam, Christian, Buddhist or anything...or a button or two for you to push to listen to interviews, videos, movies, or animatronic or movements...
Lesson leant?
Boe and I felt as if we were cheated of our RM5. It was B.O.R.I.N.G, D.U.L.L and downright P.L.A.I.N.
Lotfi the curator probably just want to scare some people by his version of pocong or energy. (you remember that Seeker's Uncle who claimed so and so?). People didn't learned anything good or enhance their *akidah* or faith in God just by *looking* at things, or *experience* some goosebumps or by the dimly lit museum. No. We are a learned culture now. We need more info and knowledge and things that excite our senses. Not just mere gas of *kapur barus* or kemenyan.
Yeah..wasted!
At least, Boe and I think so.

From what I heard, the one they did in Muzium Negara a few years back is more convincing than this one. This one seems to be trying too hard.
Yeah. I still remember that Muzium Negara's event. That was one truly educational and not purely superstitious!
So guys, if you have dunno what to spend with RM5, I recommend you guys to buy a cup of Baskin Robbin's icecream. It's not really worth it la...
yeah, it's just crap. even the ulamaks are unconvinced if this exhibition is suitable for the people. you know, afraid of being mislead by false information from these organizers.
